Thomas A. Barnes
President, Barnes Manufacturing Services

Thomas Barnes is responsible for the strategic planning and daily direction of the operations of his company in the design and manufacture of fabricated metal products. He is directly responsible for the growth of the company from a precision tool and die manufacturer to a fully integrated multiple product manufacturing service company.

Mr. Barnes joined Rockwell International's Goss Graphics Division as a tool engineer upon graduating from the Industrial Technology program at Iowa State University in 1973. He progressed during the next six years to the position of Supervisor of Facilities. In 1979 Mr. Barnes founded Barnes Manufacturing Services (BMS) in support of the needs of local industries in Marion, Iowa. The company expanded in scope from a tool and die shop to provide design and manufacturing services. In 1994 BMS acquired the Tokheim Company, inventor of the gasoline pump. Barnes Manufacturing Services continues to provide design and manufacturing services and also markets liquid level gauges, flame arresters, and pressure vents under the Tokheim brand name.

Mr. Barnes has provided the vision and expertise to make his company a multi-million dollar operation servicing the needs of his community. In recognition of his professional growth he was awarded the Laureate Citation by the Alpha Xi chapter of Epsilon Pi Tau.
