Charles Mock is responsible for the development and implementation of new subdivision ordinances and site plans for the City of Houston and its extraterritorial jurisdiction. He establishes the standards and directs the planning that controls the land use within Houston.
A graduate of Texas Southern University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Industrial Technology, Mr. Mock has been a civil servant since 1970. He started his employment as a Senior Drafter and progressed through the chairs of municipal planning holding increasingly responsible positions. Early in his career he supervised other planners on special projects, such as creating the Major Thoroughfare and Freeway Plan for the City. In 1995 he was promoted to Division Manager and has been specifically responsible for the following:
- Developing the Inner City Revitalization Plan that resulted in economic revitalization, new housing stock, and improved community living.
- Drafting a new Subdivision Ordinance governing all proposed development in the City and the extraterritorial jurisdiction that insures consistent land use standards.
- Establishing an electronic registration and tracking system for new development that reduces the time and cost involved in filing plans and requesting permits.
As manager of the Development Services Division, Charles Mock has direct impact upon the quality of life for Houston's citizens.
