Outstanding Industrial Technologist - 1998

James Thomas provides the executive leadership to effectively coordinate and manage IBM Global Services, one of IBM's fastest growing operations. He is directly responsible for efficiently managing company assets to maintain a competitive position in product support and network services.

Mr. Thomas has over twenty-five years of increasingly responsible positions at IBM. His early positions at IBM were in the product development of early stage personal computer projects. Most recently he was Director of RISC development at the Austin Texas Facility that included responsibility for the Motorola/Apple/IBM Somerset Design Center. He also previously held the position of General Manager of a joint venture between IBM and Intel that developed highly integrated microprocessor platforms.

Mr. Thomas received his Bachelor of Science in Electronic Technology in 1973 from Indiana State University.
