Information about Submission and Review Process for "NAIT Conference Papers 2008"

If you desire to expand your accepted NAIT 2008 Conference presentation into a short paper for peer review and possible acceptance and publication as a 2008 "Conference Paper", the deadline for submission of an electronic copy of the paper (via e-mail attachment, diskette or CD-ROM) is June 23, 2008. All materials must be delivered to NAIT by this date. As we can only use an electronic file to create our final conference documents, a fax is not acceptable! Thanks.

The 2008 Conference Papers process will culminate in selection of a "Best Conference Paper of 2008" and the winner will receive an award plaque and one other valuable award prize (cash, a registration waiver, or free room nights at the hotel.)

The "Conference Papers" are chosen through a double-blind peer review process, coordinated through the NAIT Office with the review process for each conference topical track led by a team of NAIT members. The Convention Papers submissions are reviewed by the same Special Division or Focus Group track as the underlying accepted presentation. The review process does not allow authors to revise papers after review - papers requiring major revisions are rejected.

The DEADLINE for submission is June 29, 2008. All required materials must be delivered to NAIT by that date; NAIT reserves the right to not submit the paper to the review process if any of the required materials are not received by the deadline. We cannot delay the review process for all who submitted in a timely manner to accommodate those who do not. Thank you for complying with the deadlines.

The Submission and Review Policies can be found HERE. Please read and follow the formatting and submission guidelines. Submission that do not conform to the guidelines will not be reviewed. NAIT will return non-conforming papers to the submitting author, but the submission deadline will not be extended.

  • The Review Guidelines and Review Process document is in PDF format and must be viewed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Click "Get Acrobat Reader" to get a copy. Remember that your browser (e.g. Netscape) must also have its preferences configured to use Acrobat to view PDF files.

Preparing a Paper for Consideration as a "Conference Paper"

  • Please read the "Submission and Review Policies" information. This section only highlights some key considerations! The detailed Submission and Review Policies can be found HERE.
  • A sample of an accepted "Conference Paper" from a prior year, in PDF format, can be found HERE
  • You will submit an electronic copy of your paper. A Word file is preferred for electronic submission. Do not send a PDF. Do not send a "read-only" document.
  • Author Identification/Blind Review: The title of the paper and the names and contact information for all authors must appear on the cover page (Name(s), Institution, contact information including email.) Identifying information must not appear in the text, in order to maintain a blind review process.
  • Use no smaller than 1" margins on 8.5" by 11" paper.
  • Papers must be double-spaced. Use 12 point, Times New Roman or Arial Narrow, which are "easy-to-read" fonts.
  • Page Limit: Ten pages maximum, exclusive of cover page, tables, figures, art, and references.
  • Avoid excessive use of ALL CAPS, Bolds, Underlines and italics except as necessary for section headings.
  • Use a running header with the title or summary title on each page after the cover page.
  • No more than 49% of submissions will be accepted. Please take special care to submit a professional paper – well organized, readable and properly proofed for spelling, word usage, syntax and grammatical errors. "Sloppy" papers are unlikely to be accepted. Use an editor if necessary before you submit it to NAIT.
