Community College and Technical Institute Division Awards

The CCTI Division has several award programs: Outstanding Industrial Technology Faculty Award, Outstanding Regional Director, President's Award and Service Awards. See below for information about and past recipients of each award.

Outstanding Industrial Technology Faculty Award

The CCTI Division, in cooperation with Goodheart-Willcox Publisher, may grant the Outstanding Industrial Technology Faculty award to a NAIT member in each Region each year. The awards are made to individuals having primary responsibilities in industrial technology programs and recipients are selected based on excellence in teaching and service to the profession. An individual need not be a NAIT member to be nominated, but selected recipients must join NAIT in order to accept the award.

Each recipient is presented a plaque (sponsored by Goodheart-Willcox) at the annual conference.

Nominations: To nominate an individual for the NAIT CCTI Division Outstanding Industrial Technology Faculty Award:

  • Submit the individual's name, resume and other materials relevent to the selection criteria of "excellence in teaching and service to the profession" to appropriate CCTI Regional Director, or directly to the CCTI Division President.

  • An individual may nominate themself for the award.

Selection Procedure:

The process of identification of candidates, evaluation of credentials and selection of recipients will begin January 1, and should conclude by July 1st of the year the award is to be presented. In each region, the regional director and a committee made up of at least two previous recipients in the region select the award winner. Duties and responsibilities of the Past President of the CCTI Division and Regional Directors are:

  1. President:
    • Use NAIT media - The IT Insider, the NAIT Website, the CCTI Division listserv, and specialized emails - to solicit nominations each winter and spring.
    • Review the criteria and procedure for the award with each Regional Director. An individual need not be a NAIT member to be nominated, but selected recipients must join NAIT in order to accept the award.
    • Provide the Regional Directors with NAIT membership lists at each institution in their region and administrators of Industrial Technology programs with NAIT members.
    • Ensure that Regional Directors are seeking nominations and moving the selection process forward.
    • DEADLINE: Report the names of selected recipients to the NAIT office by July 1 of each year. If the process is delayed, final information on selected recipients must be reported to the NAIT Office by September 1 in order for award plaques and other materials to be produced by the time of the annual conference.
  2. Regional Directors:
    • Secure nominations of candidates from Deans, Coordinators, Department Heads or Chairs, and NAIT members bewteen January 1 and April 1. Seek the assistance of the NAIT office for targeted emails, and contact information for individual contacts and mailings.
    • Secure resumes and nomination support materials for qualified nominated candidates.
    • Have the individual members of the review panel (consisting of at least two previous recipients of the award and the Regional Director) rank the candidates, and make a final selection using the cumulative ranking for each nominee.
    • Report the selected recipient for the region to the Division President by July 1.
    • Keep the award recipient's identity confidenntial except to inform the recipients to ensure they will be present to receive the Award.

Outstanding Regional Director Award

The Outstanding Regional Director Award is given on occasion to CCTI Division Regional Directors who have made significant leadership contributions to the University. Criteria considered include membership promotion efforts, leadership exhibited in initiating and conducting regional activities, active participation and contributions as a member of the CCTI Division Executive Committee, special project or committee assignments, and other efforts in support of Association activities. The award process and selection is at the sole discretion of the CCTI Division President.

This list is maintained by the NAIT office and is a forum for members of the National Association of Industrial Technology's CCTI Division Members. The list is informally moderated.
